Lupus with a side of SCAD

February 11, 2023

Hello all! Im Amanda, on 10/19/21 at age 38 i was dx with Systemic Lupus, just over a year later 10/27/22 at age 39 i woke up not feeling the best but having lupus im used to this, as the day progressed i started to have a squeezing achy pain in my right shoulder that went across the top of my back and neck and would shoot pain into my right elbow. I found myself rolling my shoulder to try and ease the pressure. After trying to take a hot shower, tylenol, ibuprofen and even icy hot, i had my 17 yr old child drive me to the closest hospital.

Upon arriving they ran an ekg and told me nothing was wrong with me. Ran bloodwork and was immediately advised that my triponin level was elevated so they kept me and reran more blood 3 hrs later. It doubled. They then knew something was wrong and sent me to the bigger town closeby, when i arrived there i was immediatly admitted and more labwork was taken. Cardiologist came in and talked to me about my plan of care and before he could leave my labs had doubled again, that was my one way ticket to angiocath where they determined SCAD.

It is now 4 months later and i went back to work 2 days a week and am in cardiac rehab the other 3 days of the week.
