2019 SW Florida SCADaddle

5k Highlights

Thanks to the hard work of many, our 2nd chip timed Southwest Florida 5K SCADaddle© for Research at Payne Park in Sarasota, FL was very successful. Thousands of dollars were raised for research!

This year, the Sarasota 5K planning committee decided to have a sunset 5K SCADaddle© on Friday evening March 29 starting at 6:30pm and a 1 mile walk starting at 6:45pm. This was our first sunset SCADaddle© ever.

All runners were timed. Awards were given to overall winners male and female. Medals/recognitions were given to 2nd and 3rd place males/females overall and the top three males/females in various age groups. Congratulations to our overall male winner David DeMulder and female winner, Emma Bradford. Click results for timing details.

Following the awards ceremony, additional festivities followed including:

• Kids Fun Run
• Live music provided by an island-style band
• Hula-hoop fun
• Massages from Massage Envy
• Raffles
• Complimentary pasta dinner with a fresh homemade donut
• Fun for all

Prior to the 5K, SCAD survivors, their supporters and several others, whose loved ones did not survive enjoyed an informal lunch.

Planning Team

A big thank you to Tracee Murphy (chair) and her team: Grant Castilow, Anne Westman, Colleen Greenwell and Carol Zich for their hard work. Thanks to Tracee, the planning team and the generosity of many individuals and sponsors, SCAD Research, Inc. is thousands of dollars closer to achieving this year’s goal to raise and donate an additional $200,000 to research in order to reach a total donation of $1 million since we started in 2011.
