SCAD 3 months after partial hysterectomy at age 40

January 2, 2017

I am blessed to say I am a SCAD survivor at age 40 it hit me like lightning striking. I was a healthy 40 year old mom of 3 children ages 12, 9 and 7 at the time. Exercised my whole life, no high blood pressure no high cholesterol. But I did have a lot of emotional stress and a hysterectomy 3 months prior that I just recovered from.

Upon waking up on 4/16/16 I felt a ripping burning pain across my upper back from right to left that took my breathe away than bilateral arm and hand numbness and tingling than right to center of my chest. My husband got me to the ER quickly and was taken great care of. My troponin showed I was having a heart attack I had 2 catherizations and the doc saw the clot was able to thin it out with meds and no stents were needed.

I was sent home after 6 days in the hospital on brilinta and aspirin. But have had a rough time with panic attacks and anxiety. Iam in therapy and on medication to help me calm down I have also started to do meditation reiki exercise and coloring to ease my mind.

I am trying to spread the word about SCAD because I would have never thought I would have a heart attack, either did my family.
I am so grateful for each and every day
I have met some SCAD friends across the world and we have a great support system for each other. I have also visited a doctor in Boston.
We need to have Faith and trust God that it does get easier and once again blessed that my heart is healed and strong.
Keep ur heads up high and know that SCAD can not take control of anyone we need to get control over SCAD and continue to research to find answers. Listen to your bodies.
