Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection

My SCAD event

May 31, 2019

To begin with I had a double mastectomy in February and was a couple of visits away from being through with the expansion process and then final surgery. However, on April 2 I was having really bad pain between my shoulder blades and tightness in my chest and shortness of breath. I really thought it was from my previous expansion just a few days prior. When I called my plastic surgeon he told me I really needed to go to the ER. So we went and after an arteriogram they told me I had a SCAD episode which led to the mild heart attack. The doctors referred me to a Dr. Kim at Vanderbilt who specializes in SCAD. After some further tests, I found out I have the artery disease FMD.I am currently doing well. I have just started my cardiac rehab. I am very blessed. I am glad I was paying close attention to my body and how I had been feeling. Had I not been going through the other I might have just shrugged it off and kept going. God has been so good through all of this. I have a good support group of friends at my work and Sunday School class. I tell everyone to God be the Glory! I have claimed the verse Joshua 1:9 throughout this whole journey!
