My big sister Ali was the life and soul of the party, she had just turned 50 and had acheived her dream of becoming and actress. She had just finished touring with an independant theatre company and met a new man who was a farmer, she was so happy. Ali had just bought a small house and was busy decorating. she never talked about her health, she had so much going on in her life, but had casually mentioned a cardiac issue in 2006 which was never looked into, and she took ramipril for blood pressure. On April 1st 2017, Ali was meant to be driving to her boyfriends house, they were going away for the weekend and she was very excited, she spoke to her sisters on the phone, relly happy and excited, popping outside to plant a last few bulbs in the garden, whilst making a pan of soup and loading up the car.
She was over 3 hours late to meet him, and worrying that she might have been in a road traffic accident, her boyfriend drove to her house. It was dark by this time, but her front door was unlocked. She was sitting on the floor of her bedroom, cold, he’d only been with her about 8 months, he was devastated. That was 10 weeks ago, and we have just been told Ali had SCAD, and so now begins our journey into finding out and understanding this condition.
