Join us for our 6th annual chip-timed run/walk to raise money for much needed research on the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50 – spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD).

SCAD is a type of a heart attack not associated with the typical risk factors of heart disease. It strikes without warning when a sudden tear occurs within the layers of one or more coronary arteries, blocking blood flow to the heart. SCAD is also the #1 cause of heart attacks in women who are pregnant and new moms. Although less common, SCAD can affect men too.

Dr. Sharonne Hayes, SCAD Research Program team lead at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN), will be joining us and will present Mayo Clinic’s latest research findings after the 5K.

Each year the 5K has grown. Participants have joined us from across the USA and Canada, as well as Sweden.

Unable to Attend and Want to Support

If you are unable to join us in person, be with us in “spirit” by registering as a virtual participant. Virtual participants have joined us on treadmills, walking or running in their neighborhoods, or just reaching out to friends and family while raising money for SCAD Research! Participating virtually gives you the flexibility to choose a different date or time if you prefer.

When you register as a virtual participant, you will have an opportunity to set up a personal fundraising page to send to family/friends/co-workers asking them to support you. There is no cost to participate virtually or to form a virtual team. Virtual participants do not receive a 5K t-shirt. 5K t-shirts can be purchase at our SCAD Store beginning early April.

And, of course, you can Donate directly to SCAD Research, Inc.
