It’s our 1st annual 5K fun run/walk to raise money for much needed research on the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50 – spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD)!

SCAD is a cause of a heart attack not associated with the typical risk factors of heart disease. It strikes without warning when a sudden tear occurs within the layers of one or more coronary arteries, blocking blood flow to the heart. In addition to being the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, SCAD is also the #1 cause of heart attacks in women who are pregnant and new moms. Although less common, SCAD can affect men too. SCAD can recur and it can be fatal.

Dr. Marysia Tweet, one of the lead researchers at Mayo Clinic SCAD Research Program (Rochester, MN) and Associate Professor of Medicine will be joining us for dinner on Friday, September 21 @ 6pm and will present Mayo Clinic SCAD Research Program’s latest research findings at 7pm.
