Timed Run/Walk to Raise Funds for Research
Saturday, September 28, 2019
Quick Links to 5K Weekend
Join us at our 5th annual run/walk to raise money for much needed research on the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women and new moms – spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD).
Unlike the traditional heart attack most people know about caused by the typical risk factors of heart disease such as high blood pressure or plaque buildup, SCAD happens when a sudden tear occurs within the layers of one or more arteries to the heart. This tear blocks blood flow to the heart causing a heart attack, abnormal heart rhythms and sometimes sudden death. Although less common, SCAD can impact men too.
Location and Registration
Our chip timed run/walk will take place at beautiful Crown Point Park on Mission Bay. Enjoy the course along the bay on the bayside walkway. The opening ceremony begins at 8:30am and the 5K starts at 9:00am.
All runners & walkers will be timed. Awards will be given to overall winner male and female. Medals/recognition will be given to 2nd and 3rd place males/females overall and to the top three males/females for age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80 and older.
